GINA Expansions in maryland

• On May 6, 2025, HB1007 was signed into law by Maryland Governor Wes Moore and will go into effect on October 1,2025

• HB1007 covers gaps in the federal Genetic Information Non-discrimination Act (GINA), and prohibits insurance carriers that offer life insurance or disability insurance policies from unfairly discriminating against an individual based on genetic testing results or mandating certain genetic testing or full genome sequencing as a prerequisite for life insurance or disability insurance eligibility or coverage
